We know that staying indoors and practicing #socialdistancing isn’t the easiest thing to do, especially if you have to handle your baby’s on and off tantrums, adjust to a hectic work from home schedule (if you’re a working mum) and spend quality time with your partner, all that the same time!

1.) Think ‘Opportunity’ not ‘Threat’

If you’ve been wanting a break for the longest time, this is the best time for you to focus on everything you’ve needed a break for. Whether it’s getting your hands on long-avoided tasks, working out, re-organizing or creating something you’ve always wanted to, keeping a positive outlook will increase your productivity by leaps!
A mindset of feeling trapped or stuck will keep you in a rut of anxiety and stress. That’s not great for your mental and physical health at all. This unforeseen global situation is your chance to take a step back, breathe, slow down and focus on yourself.

2.) Routine is Relief

For most people, quarantine feels lonely and extremely nerve-wracking because it pushes them out of their daily routine.
The best way to stay grounded and sane is to try and maintain a close structure of routine to a normal pre-quarantine day.

Stick to similar waking and bed-times, eat your meals regularly as you would on a working day, make sure to stick to some form of at-home exercise or workout. If you tend to feel lethargic some days, give yourself a break and go easy. It’s okay to readjust at your own pace. A routine will however, definitely help you stay active and keep you less likely to spiral.

3.) Avoid Obsessing

There’s a lot of free news and information on the internet which causes even more confusion and anxiety during already challenging times.
Each time you reach to check your phone for a new update, stay mindful and remember that this is not going to change anything. Stay alert for important instructions and measures from your country but avoid the itch to open Google every second.
Focus on work and family time while keeping perhaps two chunks of 30 minutes each to check the news.

4) Mindfulness over Menace

Remember to stay mindful, grateful and helpful during these times. Shift your focus from solely internal to an external environment. The world needs us to be thoughtful and kind to each other more than ever now.
To help you stay mindful, indulge in a bit of meditation and quiet time. You can download apps such as “Headspace” and “Calm” which are amazing for beginners.
Ultimately we’re in this together and although we have to be there for each other from the comfort of our own homes, we have to remind ourselves that it’s all not too bad. We’re doing our best and we’ll come out of it stronger and more resilient than EVER! 🙂

6) Build the Bond with your Bundle of Joy

What better time to invest all your attention in your children? Use this time to get your hands dirty, playing, coloring, drawing and just having fun with your children. This will also help them build their focus and concentration to stay extra energized for when they have to go back to school.
